Swindlerbuster Review: Is It Legit and Is It Free? (2026)

Maybe you've already filled in the form: a name, an age, a location. Then a screen that read "You might want to see this." and a button offering to unlock the results. If you stopped there to look the site up before clicking, this page is for you.

Short answer: on the day we checked, Swindlerbuster did not run a search of its own. Its form played a ten-second animation, and its results button led to another company, Social Catfish, through a partner link. There was nothing to pay on Swindlerbuster itself, and no result to get from it.

We start with what the site says, then what its form did when we read its code, then the questions people ask most: is it free, is it legit, and is it the old Swipebuster. Everything is dated, because a site can change.

If you came here to check whether one person has a dating profile: that is the search CheatEye, our own tool, runs itself, on its own site. First name, age, gender, location, an optional photo, and you see whether a Tinder profile matches. One search costs $17.90, paid once. Run a search on CheatEye, or read on for what we found on Swindlerbuster.

Quick verdict

What Swindlerbuster says it does

Start with the site's own words. Its homepage is titled "Find someone on dating apps" and promises a "Dating Profile Search".

What its search form actually did

This is the part that matters if you're about to click, so we've kept it to what we could read ourselves.

We read the code that runs the form on its homepage. Here is what it did on 6 October 2026.

In plain terms: the form did not look anyone up. It led you to a different service, which then runs its own search under its own prices.

The site did not say this anywhere we could find.

Is Swindlerbuster free?

There was nothing to pay on Swindlerbuster when we checked, but it is not a free search either. Four answers, all as of 6 Oct 2026:

• Can you pay on swindlerbuster.com? No. Its shop, cart and checkout pages were empty.

• Do you get a result on swindlerbuster.com? No.

• Where does the paid part happen? On Social Catfish, which sells memberships.

• What do other articles say it costs? $4.95, $9, or $10 to $30. We found none of these at a checkout.

If you continue, you become a Social Catfish customer. Read our Social Catfish review before you pay: its own site shows several different prices. The checks that cost nothing come first in our guide to free ways to find hidden dating profiles.

Is Swindlerbuster legit?

It is a real website with a named company. The questions are about what you get. We took them one at a time, with what each answer is based on.

• Is there an identified company? Yes. SwindlerBuster L.L.C is named on its contact page.

• Does it run the search it describes? Not on the day we checked. This is based on the form's code.

• Does it disclose where it sends you? No. There is no mention on the site.

• Are its terms complete? No. The governing-law clause still reads "[Your Jurisdiction]".

• Is its content up to date? No. No blog post published in 2026.

What reviews say

Trustpilot showed 2.6 out of 5 for Swindlerbuster on 6 October 2026, on 5 reviews only. The profile is not claimed by the company.

• Four of the five reviews, dated June 2024 to February 2025, describe paying and receiving nothing.

• One, updated in January 2026, says the service is not free despite appearing in results for free searches.

Five reviews are too few to draw a trend. They do match what the site looked like at the time: it used to take payments, and it no longer does.

How the site changed

The site has not always looked like this. Archived copies show when the form changed.

Several older articles already described a redirection to Social Catfish before 2026. We could not date when it started.

Is Swindlerbuster the old Swipebuster?

The names are close enough that the question comes up a lot. Nothing we found supports it.

• Swipebuster was a Tinder search site launched in 2016. Archived pages and its successor's own announcement show it became Cheaterbuster in 2018.

• Swindlerbuster runs on a domain registered in 2023. Its own blog describes Cheaterbuster as "formerly SwipeBuster".

Some 2016 press articles about Swipebuster now carry the name "SwindlerBuster". The archived versions of those articles say "Swipe Buster". We explain the full story in what happened to Swipebuster.

Where to take your question instead

You came with a real question about a real person, and it still deserves an answer. Which tool can give it depends on the question. For Tinder specifically, our page on searching Tinder without creating an account compares the paid tools with the free methods.

We make one of the tools in the last row. CheatEye searches Tinder, and Bumble, Hinge, Happn and OkCupid as an option, from a first name, an age, a gender and a location, with an optional photo. When a profile is found, the report shows what's on it: bio, photos, last activity, last location and any paid Tinder plan. A search starts at $17.90. It does not search by phone number or email, and it shows no messages and no live location. If Hinge is the app you have in mind, read how to check whether someone is on Hinge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Swindlerbuster a scam? We would not use that word. It is a real site run by a named company. What we observed is that its form did not perform a search and led to another company's paid service without saying so.

Does Swindlerbuster still work? The site is online. On 6 October 2026 its search form did not run a search of its own.

Is Swindlerbuster free? You could not pay on it when we checked, and you could not get a result from it either. The paid search happens on Social Catfish.

Does Swindlerbuster have a face search? Its blog mentions a "Face" search. On the day we checked, the form accepted a photo but nothing in its code analysed it, and the page for face search returned an error.

Is Swindlerbuster the same as Cheaterbuster? No. They are separate sites. Cheaterbuster is the service that used to be called Swipebuster. We checked that other service on its own page: see whether Cheaterbuster is a legitimate service.
