Swipebuster: Is It Still Working? Best Alternatives in 2026

Swipebuster no longer exists under that name. Tinder's parent company owns the domain and the service became Cheaterbuster in 2018. What to use today.

You remembered the name. Maybe from a headline years ago, maybe from a friend who swore by it. So you typed swipebuster.com, and the page never loaded.

Short answer: Swipebuster does not exist under that name anymore. The address swipebuster.com does not load, and the domain belongs to Match Group, the parent company of Tinder. The service itself continued: it has been called Cheaterbuster since 2018.

This page covers what's left of Swipebuster today, what it was, how the name disappeared according to the records, and what to use now that the $5 Tinder search is gone.

If you just want what Swipebuster used to do: checking whether one specific person is on Tinder, paid per search, with no subscription. That's how CheatEye, our own tool, works today. First name, age, gender, location, an optional photo, $17.90 for one search. Run a search on CheatEye, or read on for what happened to Swipebuster.

Is Swipebuster still working?

Not as Swipebuster. On 6 October 2026, we found this:

The address is dead. swipebuster.com does not load. The address does not resolve.

The domain has a new owner. It belongs to Match Group, LLC, according to the registration record.

It doesn't redirect to Cheaterbuster. It does not respond at all. Several articles say that swipebuster.com redirects to Cheaterbuster. It does not.

The service still exists, under the name Cheaterbuster. If the new name is unfamiliar, we checked whether Cheaterbuster is a real, legitimate service.

An old Swipebuster account is another story. We found no way to use one. The original site is gone.

What Swipebuster was

Swipebuster appeared under that name in April 2016 and got wide press coverage within days. It let anyone check whether a specific person had a Tinder profile.

The version that ran from 2016 to 2018 was simple. You entered a first name, a gender and the place where the person last used Tinder. It covered Tinder only. You paid per search or per pack of searches, with no subscription mentioned, and there was no free search.

The price crept up over those three years. These are the figures from archived copies of the site:

The timeline, from the records

Most articles sum this up in one sentence. The records tell a longer story.

What the dates show: the last Swipebuster address was ordered transferred in July 2018, and the new name appeared in the following weeks.

What the company said: its announcement explains the change by the way the press spelled the name, "Swipe Buster" in two words, which made the site harder to find.

Both are on the record. We do not know which one weighed more.

Dates that other articles get wrong

If you've read two or three pages about Swipebuster before this one, you've probably met at least one of these.

On the last point, see our Swindlerbuster review. Some 2016 articles about Swipebuster now show the name "SwindlerBuster", which adds to the confusion.

What its successor looks like today

Cheaterbuster is not the $5 Tinder search that Swipebuster was. If that's what you came back for, this is the table to read before you sign up.

For the details, see our Cheaterbuster review.

What to use now that Swipebuster is gone

No tool today offers what Swipebuster did at its 2016 price. Better to hear that now than after an hour of looking. What exists instead depends on what you need. Our guide to finding one specific person on Tinder walks through each method in turn.

We make CheatEye. It searches Tinder, and Bumble, Hinge, Happn and OkCupid as an option, from a first name, an age, a gender and a location, with an optional photo. When a profile is found, you see what the profile says, the photos on it, when it was last active and where. It does not search by phone number or email, it shows no messages and no live location, and it is not free.

Swipebuster then, Cheaterbuster and CheatEye now

We make CheatEye, so read our column as a competitor's own description.

Nobody sells a $5 Tinder check anymore. If what you liked about Swipebuster was paying once for one answer, CheatEye is the closest thing to it today. Run a search on CheatEye.
